Sometimes, users notice that what felt like two trips was recorded as a single trip in the app. For example, if you stop at a rest area, switch drivers, and then continue driving, OtoZen may still count this as one continuous trip.
Why does this happen?
OtoZen is designed to end a trip when it detects that you’ve truly stopped — like parking for a few minutes or moving around outside the car. If the stop is too short or there isn’t enough activity to signal the end of a trip, the app will continue recording until it meets those conditions.
This design also helps avoid false trip ends when you pause briefly at stop signs, red lights, or gas stations.
What you can do:
Make sure to stay stopped for a few minutes (up to 5 minutes) before starting your next drive.
Or, simply step out of the car and walk with your phone — this helps OtoZen recognize the stop and close the trip.
Pro Tip:
If you’re switching drivers, pause for a few minutes before continuing. This ensures OtoZen ends the first trip properly and starts the next one fresh.
Good to know:
OtoZen’s goal is to keep your driving history accurate, but sometimes very short breaks or quick driver switches may not register as separate trips unless the stop is clear.
