High-Speed Alerts are notifications sent to you when your connection (family member, buddy, etc.) drives over the speed threshold you set for them.

If you’re not receiving these alerts, check the items below:

1. Make sure your connection is in Driver Mode

High-Speed Alerts will only work if your connection’s phone is set to:

To check, ask them to go to:
Shortcuts → Drive Mode → Driver

If they’re in Rider Mode, no alerts will be sent to you.

2. Check which alert type you set (Road speed limit or High speed limit)

You now have two ways to set speed alerts for your connection:

A. Road speed limit alert

You’ll receive a notification when your connection exceeds:
Road speed limit + the threshold YOU selected

Example:

  • Road limit: 50 mph

  • Your threshold: +10 mph
You’ll be notified at 61 mph

The notification will appear in your phone’s notification bar.

B. High speed limit alert

You choose a fixed maximum speed (for example, 70 mph).
You’ll receive a notification when they exceed it by 1 mph.

Example:

  • You set: 70 mph
➡️You receive an alert when they reach 71 mph

This is helpful for monitoring highway caution.

3. Make sure your notifications are enabled

You won’t receive alerts if your phone is blocking OtoZen notifications.

Check:
Settings → Notifications → OtoZen → Allow Notifications

4. Check that your connection hasn't limited your access

You may stop receiving alerts if your connection has:

  • Turned on Viewer Mode

  • Turned on Hide My Location

  • Changed their Give Access permissions so you no longer have full access

If needed, ask them to review these settings in the OtoZen app.

5. Alerts only send when thresholds are crossed

If the driver never exceeds:

  • The road limit + threshold you set, or

  • The fixed limit you selected

…you will not receive a High-Speed Alert.

6. Customizes alert tones

OtoZen allows you to personalize alert tones for speeding notifications.
This makes it easier to know who is driving or what type of alert it is without having to look at your phone.
