In OtoZen, a speeding event is identified when you drive over the speed limit of the road by 10 mph or more for a minimum duration of 15 seconds. This duration threshold helps to exclude brief, momentary speeding, sometimes needed for overtaking or merging.

After your trip, speeding events are shown in the trip summary. These events are factored into your Driver Score based on:

  1. Frequency of Speeding: How often do you speed over a certain distance, e.g., 5 times in 10 miles vs. 2 times in 20 miles?
  2. Magnitude of Violation: The extent you exceed the speed limit, e.g., 11 mph or 20 mph over the limit.
  3. Duration of Speeding: The length of time you maintain speeding, e.g., 15 seconds vs. 2 minutes.

These factors comprehensively measure your speeding behavior, influencing your overall Driver Score. Note that the speeding thresholds are standardized for all family members and OtoZen users to ensure consistency and fairness in scoring. These thresholds cannot be changed.

Please note that this is different from the Speeding Alert settings, which trigger a beep for the driver based on their individual preferences.
